Encrypted DESFire cards are much harder to copy than ordinary ID or Mifare cards. VSH supplies ZKTeco DESFire readers and controllers to installers and projects across Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
Why DESFire?
Many buildings still use 125 kHz ID cards, which can be copied in seconds with a cheap cloner. DESFire cards use encryption, so a copied card won’t open the door.

What is a DESFire card?
MIFARE DESFire is a 13.56 MHz smart card with built-in encryption. Unlike 125 kHz ID cards, it can’t simply be copied with a low-cost card cloner.
Can I use DESFire with my existing ZKTeco controller?
Yes, with ZKTeco C3 Plus or InBio Pro Plus controllers. Older controllers can usually connect DESFire readers through Wiegand. Tell us your current model and we’ll check.
RS-485 or Wiegand, which reader should I choose?
RS-485 readers (the -RS models) connect directly to C3 Plus and InBio Pro Plus and support longer cable runs. Wiegand readers work with most controllers, including third-party ones.
Can we change from ID cards to DESFire step by step?
Yes. Multi-tech readers like the KR901, KR902 and KR613 read both old ID cards and new DESFire cards during the changeover.
