Quick answer: Match the battery to your old one: same voltage (usually 12V), same capacity (Ah) and same size. Most door access, alarm, keyphone and small UPS units use a 12V 7Ah battery. Fire alarm panels often use 7Ah to 18Ah. Solar systems need large batteries from 40Ah to 200Ah. For brands, choose E-JARVIS when a project needs an ISO-certified, Malaysia-made battery, and VOOM when you want a value option for everyday replacement.
A backup battery keeps your security system running when the power goes out. When it gets weak, doors may not lock, the alarm panel beeps, or the fire alarm shows a battery fault. This guide helps you pick the right replacement quickly.

How to read your old battery label
Look for three things on the label before you order:
- Voltage (V): almost always 12V for security systems.
- Capacity (Ah): for example 7Ah, 12Ah or 18Ah. Replace with the same Ah, or slightly higher if your panel allows it.
- Terminal type and size: the connector on top (F1 or F2 tab, or bolt terminal) and the battery dimensions must fit your cabinet.

Signs it is time to replace
- The alarm or fire alarm panel shows a battery fault or keeps beeping.
- Doors do not stay locked, or the system shuts down quickly when power goes off.
- The battery case is swollen, cracked or leaking.
- The battery has been in use for several years. Backup batteries wear out over time even if they look fine, so check them during routine servicing.

Frequently asked questions
What battery does a door access system use?
Most door access power supplies and EM lock systems use a 12V 7Ah SLA battery. Check the label on your old battery to confirm.
Can I use VOOM or E-JARVIS batteries in my UPS?
Yes. Both brands can replace the 12V batteries inside UPS units for computers, CCTV recorders and servers. Match the voltage, Ah and terminal type on the old UPS battery, and replace all batteries in the UPS at the same time.
Can I use a bigger Ah battery?
Often yes, if it fits the cabinet and your panel can charge it. A higher Ah gives longer backup time. Ask us before changing size for fire alarm panels.
What is the difference between VOOM and E-JARVIS?
E-JARVIS is a Malaysia-made, ISO-certified battery suited to projects that require certification. VOOM is a more affordable option for everyday replacement.
Is an SLA battery the same as a VRLA battery?
Yes. Both describe a sealed, maintenance-free lead-acid battery that does not need water top-up.
Which battery do I need for solar CCTV?
Solar systems need larger batteries, usually from 65Ah to 200Ah or more, depending on the number of cameras and how many cloudy days you want to cover.
Do you supply batteries to Sabah and Sarawak?
Yes. We supply throughout Malaysia, including Sabah and Sarawak through our Penampang branch.
