How many extensions?
Count one extension per desk, plus the reception, meeting rooms, and any door phone or paging speaker. Choose a system with room for 20–30% more extensions than you need today.
When to choose a keyphone
- Your office already has telephone cabling.
- You have under about 16 extensions in one location.
- You want simple operation with physical line buttons.
When to choose an IP PBX
- You are setting up a new office with network cabling.
- Staff need to take office calls on their mobile phones.
- You have more than one branch, or plan to.
- You need call recording or an auto attendant (“Press 1 for Sales”).
